I started playing when I was 11 years old for Mumbles and my school team. I played for Swansea RFC under 15’s team and Swansea District at until I was 17. As I developed I was recruited to play for the Ospreys Under18’s, Under 19’s and now the Under 20’s. I have also represented Wales in the Under 17’s and Under 18’s.
Now I play for Swansea RFC, the Ospreys and I still play for Mumbles.
I train six days a week, either with Swansea or the Ospreys. On the other days I will do weights at the Unigym or speed and stamina work. Every Saturday I play a game and take Sundays off for a well deserved rest.
Playing for the Wales under 19’s squad in the World Cup hosted by South Africa. We came 6th in the competition. It was a great experience to travel to Africa, but it was a really tough competition, so I’m proud of our achievement.
I have lived here all my life, my teams are here and I didn’t want to move away. Fortunately Swansea University’s Law department has a great reputation. I was impressed when I visited it on an Open Day and I had heard good things about the course.
It’s very friendly and a nice place to live. The campus is great and feels like a community. I live in the Student Village which is always busy and a really fun place to live. I have all the training facilities I need on my doorstep and have settled into student life here very quickly.
I want to pass the first year of my degree, its quite tough with lots of reading and a very disciplined course. I would also like to play for the Wales under 21’s squad for the World Cup in June 2006.
All the lectures and study notes are put online on the Blackboard facility. My tutors are supportive and friendly, so it’s very easy to talk to them. I can always phone them if I have had to miss a lecture. My degree is very important to me, so I would consider studying part-time if my sporting commitments increased.
Lance Armstrong. To come back from having Cancer he needs to train twice as hard as everyone else, which shows amazing dedication. And he still succeeds in seeing off his rivals.
